This sensitive extension of a traditional farmhouse located in a woodland clearing within AONB, was achieved by re-creating the look and feel of a vernacular barn to provide a comfortable, modern guest wing, study and family room. The new barn is articulated to appear as a working building that has been adapted and extended over time, and a sleek, modern zinc and glass link connects this extension to the old farmhouse. Using an exposed green oak frame for the barn, with a traditional palette of brick, timber, clay and slate, its appearance will soften over time to appear as part of the historic fabric of the farm. Full RIBA Services provided through all stages.
