Planning approval for a pair of new-build semi-detached family homes in this challenging location, together with an eco-lodge, ‘The Hide’, for holiday rental. Sensitive planning constraints included the woodland setting and conservation area, together with surface water flood risk and a steeply sloping site. Bespoke and characterful homes with double-height spaces, high-level windows and vaulted ceilings, designed to optimise natural light and sense of space, within close proximity of mature trees. ‘The Hide’ eco-lodge will blend sensitively into the woodland setting using natural timber cladding and a green roof. Integrated shutters ensure it can be closed-up at night to minimise light-spill within the woodland, whilst visitors can enjoy hidden views of biodiversity across the new wildlife pond. Working closely with Ibbotson Studios to develop the landscape strategy with a long-term vision for the creation of a sustainable, valuable, beautiful exemplar of urban woodland habitat.
