With post-graduate distinctions for both Architecture and Development Practices, Sandy has particular expertise in housing, regeneration and urban design. After eight years working in London she relocated to Birmingham in 2005, building on her management experience to develop and run a regional office, before launching Vivid Architects in 2010.
Her experience in masterplanning, mixed use and housing design led to her appointment as a member of the Design Enabling Panel 2011-13 for MADE (Midlands Architecture & Designed Environment), the regional centre in the West Midlands providing design support for strategic projects. She also works at Birmingham City University as an examiner for the RIBA Part 3 course for qualifying architects.
Sandy is especially interested in the human side of design, building personal relationships to better understand the brief and more clearly communicate the design. In this way she strives to create beautiful townscape, buildings and spaces which respond directly to the needs and aspirations of clients, families and communities.
She has worked on a range of award winning projects, including RIBA Housing Design Awards, CABE Gold Standard Award, and ODPM Sustainable Communities Award.
